Mastering the Method : MTM module 1

December 4 to 8 (Thu - Mon), 2025
venue: Kanagawa Science park イメージ

Since the turn of the century, Mastering the Method (MTM) has offered a proven postgraduate program for teachers dedicated to refining their precision of touch, clarity of intention, and artistry in execution. By presenting the standards and masterpieces of Functional Integration, it builds on the time-honored path to developing skillful mastery. In the lexicon of Functional Integration lessons, MTM teaches the structures and strategies known to be so consistently effective and remarkably reliable that you can count on them to work.

In each five-day module, Larry Goldfarb, CFT, MSME, Ph.D., reveals a remarkably clear map to one such lesson plan. From explaining the overall strategy to patiently coaching each participant on learning every technique, Larry provides the in-depth instruction and personal guidance you need to successfully add this lesson to your FI repertoire.

Mastering the Method offers you the opportunity to:
・Become skilled at new hands-on techniques while refining the ones you already know.
・Learn to engage students before they lie on the table.
・Understand the how & why of each step in a lesson.
・Improve your self-use and refine the touch that teaches.
・Uncover and utilize the movement behind the lesson.
・Adapt the lesson to the student, not the other way around.
・Promote the transfer of learning into daily life.

MTM begins with one of the most fundamental Feldenkraisian themes: developing length and fostering skeletal support. The first module focuses on a foundational FI, given in a side-lying position, that profoundly reorganizes the trunk and spine. Thanks to the interactive nature of the program, you will learn to adapt it to the needs of diverse learners, including recovering from injury, improving abilities, and enhancing performance.

This inaugural segment isn't just about learning a new lesson; it's about deepening your understanding of the Feldenkrais Method and refining your teaching artistry. You will:
・Discover a core lesson for enhancing trunk stability and spinal fluidity.
・Develop advanced techniques for optimizing tonus.
・Improve your self-organization.
・Understand the pedagogical tactics underpinning this powerful lesson.
・Experience firsthand how to integrate your insights into your practice.

We invite you to join pioneering Feldenkrais teacher and eminent trainer Larry Goldfarb for the next transformative step in your professional development.

Here are some of the testimonials from some of the participants:
・I found Larry’s teaching very generous, intelligent, and subtle, with something powerful and refreshing in the best sense of the word.
・Relevant and valuable to clean and clarify the fundamentals of the method in our intention . . . and in our hands.
・What I learned gave me a fundamental understanding of how to think about Feldenkrais and how to apply it. I also learned how to make myself comfortable and why that’s crucial.
